Client was an established boom mic operator training business seeking to expand their offerings with in-person VR training. I worked closely with their trainers and audio experts to design a scenario for trainees to practice and evaluate their booming technique. This included simulating frequency-dependent attenuation for a variety of physical microphones, creating a custom boom mic peripheral using HTC Vive Trackers, implementing toggleable visual indicators for boom accuracy & camera cache intersection, and implementing a system to track user movements and replay them later both in ‘ghost mode’ and as a graph. The client was able to use the initial proof-of-concept that I created to secure further funding from the Bavarian government, allowing me to expand the app into a more complex prototype.
This app was designed for both a desktop trainer to control the experience for the in-headset trainee, so UI controls are implemented for mouse & keyboard.
